We took delivery of our Snippet post panels this morning and wasted no time beginning to put them out on the Western half of the route.
Each panel has a little bit of text and a colourful photo, with a QR code allowing you to load up more information on your phone screens to read at your own leisure. There are more to come in the next couple of days - 20 in total this year from Portpatrick to the Moffat Hills

Locals Ronnie and Shona Johnstone came up with the idea of having a banner of Poppies at the Tolbooth this year for Remembrance Day. So, the town went into action, many from Sanquhar and further away hand knitted poppies, they were then attached to the banner by a group of volunteers and P6 &P7 from Sanquhar Primary. The Banner was put in place ready for Remembrance Day.
Massive Congratulations to Yvonne and the team at A' the Airts for winning the award for community project of the year at this years D &G Life Awards
The weekend of the 3rd & the 4th Crawick Multiverse was rocking! Music at the Mutiverse brought us music from Glasvagus, The Bluebells, The Bay City Rollers and ended with the Red Hot Chilli Pipers as well as many top DJ'S.
Unfortunately, the weather on the Saturday was poor and we all got soaked but it did not dampen anyone's spirits, the Sunday was a better day and at the end the sun came out and was roasting.
For more info , Pictures and videos please see our Facebook Group or YouTube channel.
So A' the Airts have done a wee temporary change of venue. This is due to the building works undergoing for an extension and refurbishment.
The Staff and helpers have made sure that all services are remaining , just in an other place just now. To make this move to St Brides Church Hall , located on St Mary's Street ( you can actually see it from the airts so it's not far) the staff and volunteers had to move the furniture and tables as well as all the kitchen stuff and all the products to buy. As you can imagine it must have taken some time. Not only that they had to get the church hall looking presentable for the customers. I went up today to take photos and can say they have done a superb job ! I haven't been in the church hall since I was about 10 or 11 at the youth club and the hall is just how I remember lol
You can get to St Brides Church Hall by walking up St Mary's Street or up Harvey's Wynd and along Simpson Road.
By car - turn off the high street and head up Harvey's Wynd, car park on the left or continue to follow the road round to Simpson Road and you will see the bigger car park up there as well as Electric charge points for cars.
ST MARY'S Street is ONE WAY.
New to Sanquhar is Tank's tubs &Deli located at 11 Castle Street, Open for take away at the moment but are working on sit in aera.
Open Monday to Friday 6.30am - 8pm and Saturday &Sunday 9am - 8pm

A group of locals volunteered to help with cleaning up Sanquhar St Brides church yard. We got Stared on Saturday after we got some tools given to us from the D&G council. In two hours we managed to clear the front gate and it looks a lot better. The group will be meeting on Saturday's at 10am and anyone is welcome. There are some rules to follow as we don't want to damage anything.
PLEASE SEEK ADVICE AND PERMISSION BEFORE YOU ATTEMPT A GRAVEYARD CLEAN UP!

The new houses are now complete !
The house are now in place of what used to be the old school at Queensberry Square. They have kept some stone from the original building and placed them in the wall and made a feature in the middle of the house of the last remaining arches that were above the windows.

Taken from the official Riding of the Marches Facebook page ....
Riding of the Marches 2021
Due to the ongoing situation around COVID-19 and the restrictions currently in place regarding gatherings and events it is with much sadness and regret that the 2021 Riding of the Marches and all events associated with 2021 Riding of the Marches have been cancelled.
The well-being of our townsfolk is paramount and in the current climate we are unable to guarantee that we could meet the requirements to ensure a safe event for 2021 therefore the decision to cancel has been taken.
The principals who were elected have agreed to carry out their duties in 2022. We the Executive Committee would like to thank them for doing so and appreciate the disappointment in the not being able to carry out their duties.
Due to the cancellation of the 2021 Riding of the Marches and limits within the school it has been agreed that there will be no Queens Party elected this year. This decision has been made with great regret and we understand how much of a disappointment this will be to many.
We trust the townsfolk and visitors, although disappointed, will agree and support our difficult decision to cancel the 2021 Riding of the Marches.
We are hopeful for a full programme of events in 2022.
(Executive Committee)
